Many customers first look at a trade business on a phone. A site can look polished on a large monitor and still make it difficult to call, read a service page or send a quote enquiry. Test the complete journey on an actual phone, not only in a desktop preview.
Check the first screen
Make the trade, main service area and next step easy to understand. Ensure the phone number is readable and, if intended, opens the phone dialler when tapped. Keep navigation simple and avoid banners that hide the contact details.
Test pages and forms
Open your main service pages, portfolio and contact page. Check that headings wrap cleanly, buttons have space around them and forms do not require sideways scrolling. Submit a test enquiry and confirm it reaches the right inbox with a useful confirmation message.
Review images and load time
Use photos that are large enough to look clear but properly sized for the page. Compress images, avoid auto-playing large media and ask your site provider to investigate slow pages. Do not remove useful work photos just to make a page lighter; optimise them instead.
Check the site periodically after updates, especially when you add a new form, booking link or gallery. Google's page experience guidance and Core Web Vitals overview explain measurable aspects of loading, interactivity and visual stability. Scores are diagnostic signals, not a promise of business results.
