Set up your Facebook Page and Instagram Business account.
You need both ready before Grafter can publish approved posts for you. Here’s the straight-through version, without the faff.
1. Create your Facebook Page
You need a personal Facebook account to create and manage the Page. Your personal profile stays separate from the public business Page.
Make it easy for customers to find
- Log in to Facebook and go to facebook.com/pages/create , or choose Pages → Create New Page in the mobile menu.
- Use your business name as customers would search for it — for example, “Moore Joinery” is clearer than “Dan’s handyman services and general odd jobs”.
- Choose the specific trade category that matches your work, such as Carpenter, Electrician or Plumber, rather than a generic Local Business category.
- Write a short, plain description of what you do and where you work. “Bespoke joinery and fitted furniture across Sheffield and the surrounding area” says more than a slogan.
Make the Page useful before you share it
- Add a square profile photo — your logo or a clear photo of you or your work — and a wide cover photo showing a good finished job.
- Click Create to make the Page live.
- Complete the About section with your website, phone, email, service area and hours if they’re relevant.
- Add a call-to-action button under the cover photo. Call Now, Send Message and Get Quote all make sense for a trade business.
2. Create your Instagram Business account
A professional Business account gives you the right account type for publishing through Meta. You can convert an existing personal account if you want to keep its posts and followers.
Switch the account type
- Open Instagram and go to your profile. Open the three-line menu, then Settings and privacy → Account type and tools.
- Choose Switch to professional account, then select Business rather than Creator.
- Pick the category that best matches your trade.
- Confirm the contact details you want to show publicly, or turn those contact options off in the same settings.
Link it to your Facebook Page
- When Instagram asks you to connect a Facebook Page, choose the Page you just created.
- Finish the profile with a clear logo or photo, a short description and your website link.
Instagram publishing through Meta requires a Business account connected to a Facebook Page you manage. It’s a Meta requirement, not a special Grafter rule, and it’s the usual reason a connection fails.
3. Connect both accounts in Grafter
Head back to the Grafter portal and open Connected accounts. Choose Connect Facebook / Instagram, complete the Meta login, and select the Page you want to use for this trade.
If you manage more than one Page, choose the one that matches your business. Grafter will show whether that Page also has an Instagram Business account linked.
Open GrafterSend the job photo.
That’s the setup finished. Send a job photo and a sentence to Grafter on WhatsApp, choose your caption and image, then approve it. Nothing posts without your say-so.
