A contact page should make the next step clear to someone who has already decided they may need your service. Do not make a customer hunt through the site to find your number or work out whether you cover their area.
Put the useful details near the top
Show your preferred contact method, the types of work you take on and the broad areas you serve. If you do not answer calls while working, say when customers can expect a reply rather than promising instant availability. A click-to-call phone number can help mobile visitors, but make sure it is readable and correct.
Keep forms short
Ask for the details needed to assess the job: name, contact method, general location, type of work and a short description. If photos help, make uploads optional and explain what they should show. Avoid asking for a full address, sensitive information or lengthy account creation before you know the job is suitable.
Tell people what happens after they submit. For example, say you will review the enquiry and contact them to discuss a site visit or next steps. Do not guarantee a quote time you cannot meet.
Make the page usable on a phone
Check that buttons are easy to tap, labels are clear and the form works on a small screen. Test the confirmation message and make sure submitted enquiries reach the right inbox.
