An enquiry outside your normal area may not fit your travel time, schedule or business model. A clear reply is better than agreeing to work you cannot deliver reliably or leaving the customer waiting.

Respond promptly and directly

Thank the person for getting in touch, explain that the address is outside your current service area, and avoid implying that you might attend if you already know you cannot. You do not need to provide a long justification.

Offer a helpful next step when possible

If you know a suitable local business, you can offer its details, while making clear that you cannot speak for its availability or quality. Alternatively, point the customer toward a relevant trade directory or advise them to check local recommendations. Do not share another person's number without permission.

Keep your advertised coverage accurate

Check your website, business profiles and social pages so the areas listed reflect the jobs you actually take. If travel distance changes seasonally or by job size, explain the boundary clearly. Avoid creating location pages or profiles for areas where you do not genuinely operate.

Our service-area page guide covers accurate coverage online, and the enquiry measurement guide can help you see which areas bring suitable work.
