A project gallery should help a potential customer find examples relevant to the work they need. A large, unfiltered grid of images can be hard to browse and may hide the jobs you most want to show.

Group projects in a way customers recognise

Use straightforward categories such as bathrooms, extensions, repairs or installations—only where those are services you actually provide. Avoid dozens of filters that create empty sections. If your work spans several services, put the strongest, most relevant examples first.

Add concise context

For each project, say what the customer needed, what work you carried out and any detail that helps someone understand the result. Keep claims accurate: distinguish your own work from other contractors' contributions, and do not imply that one project represents every job.

Get permission before publishing identifiable property details, customer names or photographs. Remove house numbers and other information that could reveal an occupied home. Our job photo privacy guide explains practical precautions.

Make the gallery easy to use

Use crisp images at a sensible file size, descriptive alternative text and a layout that works on mobile. Make each project image open at an appropriate size without obscuring the way back to the gallery. Link to the relevant service and contact route so an interested visitor can take a clear next step.

Review the gallery when your services change. Remove outdated examples or anything you no longer have permission to show. See our trade portfolio guide and project case study guide.
