When someone opens your Instagram profile, they may want to find examples of your work or understand what you do before sending a message. Story Highlights can keep selected stories easy to find, but they work best as a small, organised portfolio—not a dumping ground.

Choose a few clear categories

Start with labels customers understand, such as “Work”, “Services” and “FAQs”. Add a “Reviews” highlight only for genuine customer feedback shared with permission and presented in context. Avoid labels such as “Best” or “No. 1” unless you can substantiate the claim.

Keep each highlight focused

Put the most useful story first. Add a short description of the job or answer, and make sure images are yours to publish. If a story mentions a location, customer or property, check that it does not reveal details the customer wanted kept private.

Check links and dates

Remove expired offers, outdated availability and services you no longer provide. Test any profile contact options, and make sure your bio says how customers should enquire and where you work. Instagram features can change, so check the current in-app tools rather than relying on old tutorials.

Do not judge the setup only by views. Notice whether profile visitors ask clearer questions or refer to a particular project. For broader planning, see our guide to Instagram and Facebook for tradesmen and trade portfolio guide.
