A testimonial can help explain a customer's experience, but it is still someone else's words and may identify a person or property. Ask before you publish it on your website, social media or marketing materials.
Make the request clear
Tell the customer where you would like to use their comment, whether you plan to show their name or project image, and how they can ask you to remove it later. Make clear that saying no will not affect your service or relationship.
Keep the quote honest
Do not invent a testimonial, alter the meaning, combine comments to create a new statement or present a single result as typical. If you correct spelling or shorten a quote, ask the customer to approve the final wording. Disclose any material connection or incentive where required, and do not pay for a positive review.
Limit identifying detail
Use only the name and project information the customer has agreed to share. A first name plus a recognisable property photo may still identify someone. Keep a record of permission and remove the content if consent is withdrawn where applicable.
