Photos on your Google Business Profile can help a potential customer recognise your business and see the type of work you do. Treat them as useful evidence, not a shortcut to a guaranteed ranking.
Choose pictures that answer customer questions
Start with a small, varied set of real images: completed work, a useful detail, your team at work where appropriate, and a van or workshop if it helps customers identify you. A roofer might show a finished roof from a safe viewpoint; a kitchen fitter might show the completed room and a close detail of the finish.
Use sharp, well-lit images that represent the work accurately. Avoid heavy filters, misleading edits, generic stock images presented as your jobs, or a run of near-identical photos.
Check permission and privacy
Ask before photographing or publishing a customer's home. Check the frame for faces, house numbers, documents, vehicle plates and reflections. A photo can reveal more than the finished work, so crop or retake it when needed. See our UK guide to customer-home photos.
Keep the profile current
Replace outdated images when your services or branding change. Do not upload a batch simply to look busy; choose pictures that make your work easier to assess. Google may review content against its policies, and image requirements can change.
Google's photo guidance for Business Profiles explains how to add business-specific photos. Its local ranking guidance does not promise that a particular photo count will improve your position.
